Even the weather seems to be against Tiger Woods.

Coastal fog, not unusual this time of the year in southern California, delayed Woods -- and everyone else -- by two hours at the start of Wednesday's pro-am for the Farmers Insurance Open.

Global Golf Post: Troubles Build for Mickelson

LA JOLLA, CALIFORNIA -- This wasn't what the Farmers Insurance Open needed, the hometown kid -- well, he's no longer a kid and maybe this is the issue -- missing the cut. And, because that Tiger guy wasn't around, other than around the world, it left a void in the superstar category.

Phil Mickelson had won the tournament, once known as the Buick Invitational, three times. He was the biggest name at Torrey Pines. What a site and sight it is, rambling along the bluffs above the breaking surf.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA — Hunter Mahan went to sleep on an eagle Saturday night at the Farmers Open and woke up to a double-bogey Sunday morning. He was awake, wasn't he?

A great finish to round three, a three on the par-5 18th at Torrey Pines, tied him for second and put him in the final group with Phil Mickelson and Bill Haas.

RealClearSports: Tiger's New Beginning Not Too Bad

SAN DIEGO -- Somebody from the country of Korea named Sung-hoon Kang shot 64 Thursday in the Farmers Insurance Open. Somebody from the land of Paradise Lost named Tiger Woods shot 69. And here we go.

To some, this is the unofficial start of the PGA Tour, a tournament with Tiger, Phil Mickelson and, yes, Sung-hoon Kang, who after Day 1 of the $5.8 million Farmers was only a shot in front of Rickie Fowler and Alex Prugh.
