SF Examiner: Even on the Champions Tour, Tiger Woods is the talk of the town

He’s 5,000 miles away in Singapore. Even if  he were home in America, the Champions Tour, with its season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship underway at TPC Harding Park, is not where Tiger Woods would be competing.

Yet, for better or worse, no matter where, no matter when, Tiger seemingly is the only one who counts in golf.

Even during a tournament for seniors, or if you will Champions.

PGATOUR.com: Langer, Cook worthy victors on a hard Sunday at Harding

SAN FRANCISCO -- An unbelievable year. Bernhard Langer said that. About Bernhard Langer's year, and the observation is undeniable. Also, considering everything, understated.

That year, this year, was embellished by Langer becoming Charles Schwab Cup Champion, virtually the only thing in his three years on the Champions Tour which Langer had not won. Until Sunday.

SF Examiner: Local guy gets his day at Harding Park

After nine holes, he remained the other man, playing partner of Fred Couples.

“The fans were yelling ‘Fred, Fred, and Fred,’ Michael Allen pointed out with a touch of sarcasm. “I’m thinking, ‘What about me?’”
